Wow! Over 100 dancers came to Spring Swing 2001, our biggest and most fun dance event ever! That includes 11 from Ohio, 1 from California, 1 from Canada, 1 from Illinois, and 1 from Indiana. You guys rock! Thank you all very much for attending and making Spring Swing a great event! Tera Vitale and Jason Barnes did an excellent job teaching the workshops on Hustle, West Coast Swing, and Night Club Two Step. Included in the lessons were important technique details, the sort of details that I don't even know to ask about until I have spent many months of trying to get the new move to work smoothly during social dancing. Please congratulate the following Trophy winners for their performance in the Spring Swing 2001 Jack & Jill competition: Spring Swing 2001 Open WCS Jack & Jill: 3rd place trophies - Danny Burton (MI) & Ann Marie Belanger (MI) 2nd place trophies - Bill Morrison (OH) & Amanda Warren (MI) 1st place trophies + open jackpot $ - Brian Wong (IL) & Joann Podleski (MI)
We were honored to have Bob Budzynski, Beverly Bubzynski, Jason Barnes, Tera Vitale, and Ken Ptek judge the Jack & Jill competition. All the judges did a great job, with Bob being our chief judge. After 4 cool dance performances, the crowd was charged up. Joann & Chet Podleski performed a smooth and cool WCS routine, followed by Jason Marker & Ann Marie Belanger with a funky routine. Next, Bob & Beverly Budzynski entertained us with their previous US Open routine. And finally, Jason Barnes and Tara Vitale performed lead and follow WCS to a song that Jason picked. To settle any disputes, Tera & Jasons performance was not a routine -- we saw Jason & Tera demo to the same song at Stardust Friday before Spring Swing and the moves he choose were significantly different. Wow. I wonder how many people noticed that Jason and Tera did the moves from the workshop during that dance... All the performances were very cool. Our charged up crowed was still dancing during the last song at 2:00 AM! Many people have already told us that they will be coming again next year. You guys rock! 2 Professional Dance Instructors! We bring the swing dance convention experience to Michigan by providing swing dances with competition quality dance music and high quality dance instruction so that people can have lots of fun and progress in their dancing. The theme - Spring Swing! - is somewhat flexible, it's a swing dance with variety. For variety, we play a few non-swing dances occasionally, such as two-step, night club two step, cha-cha, and waltz. With a heavy focus on the slower swing dances such as Carolina Shag, DC Hand Dancing and West Coast Swing, we will also play a few of the faster swing dances such as Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, Jive, or Jitterbug. Most West Coast Swing music lends itself very well to Hustle so you can expect that there will be lots of hustle dancing going on as well. The mix of swing dances varies at each dance since we cater to our guests. We provide professional teachers who have a good attitude and knowledge base, and who teach solid basics and sizzling intermediate moves. People of all levels are welcomed in a friendly way. We always have a dance following our lessons with a DJ who encourages you to request your favorite dance music. Our DJ plays all requests in which he has the music (and the request is within the theme), and if he doesn't have the music, he puts the request on his music to purchase list. The experienced dancers inspire the beginning dancers. Everyone has a good time. People leave our dances tired. HAVING THIS MUCH FUN SHOULD BE ILLEGAL |
